PRODUCING FOR OTHERS

Bio & CV

Helle Levang Moum

I am a producer of dance, for others and in my own productions.

I was educated in contemporary dance (techniques of Limón, Graham and Release work), choreology, choreography and Dance Politics. Since graduating I have worked both as a producer, dancer, dance-teacher and choreographer. I am passionate about stories and want to explore the coming together of movement, voice and words, the abstract and the concrete.

As a producer I love facilitating a safe space where creative processes and cooperation can take place. Health & safety, legal and economic matters are examples of what creates a safe space. Dialogue is at the root of the work. During the last few years my interest in listening as a practice and a starting point for both project management and creative expression has been growing.

The avant garde composer Pauline Oliveros inspires me. She developed the practice Deep Listening which "cultivates a heightened awareness of the sonic environment, both external and internal, and promotes experimentation, improvisation, collaboration, playfulness, and other creative skills vital to personal and community growth."

As a producer my strength is to be a dialogue partner for the artistic leader in the process of making choices. I listen for what is needed in the project and pay attention to details in order to move the project forward.

HLM Productions was founded in 2004. Since then it has produced several performances, workshops/seminars and festivals.
